Having missed out on signing a forward on transfer deadline day, the Reds continue to be linked with Schalke's Dutch international Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, as Brendan Rodgers is certain to make every effort to boost his striking options in January. Huntelaar was frequently linked with Liverpool's biggest rivals Manchester United during his Ajax days, particularly when the targetman scored 33 times in 34 appearances in the 2007-08 Eredivisie seaason. After a rather disastrous move to Real Madrid, where the forward was omitted from their Champions League squad due to an oversight by the club, and an indifferent spell in Milan, Huntelaar has regained... Will Brendan Rodgers still be LFC manager at the end of the season?

It's fair to say that Brendan Rodgers has not been granted the sort of honeymoon period afforded to his predecessor. Before beginning his tenure as Liverpool manager, we had a pretty good idea of what to expect from Rodgers – neat, passing football, and a similar system to that employed at Swansea. That is exactly what he has delivered, and certainly the Liverpool midfield looks improved from last season. It's easy to focus on results, which have been disappointing, but leaving aside the opening day of the season, home games against Manchester City and Arsenal could have delivered few points for... 1. Theo Walcott – Whether he would choose to leave Arsenal for Liverpool remains to be seen, but will have only six months left of his current contract by January. 2. Alan Dzagoev – Whether LFC would have any chance of getting him is debatable, but Dzagoev is the best young midfielder in Europe that hasn't already moved to one of its biggest clubs. 3. Giorgio Wijnaldum – Another talented young winger / attacking midfield player who might be available for a reasonable price. 4. Iker Munain – Young winger / forward with Athletic Bilbao who tore Manchester United to pieces last year.... Read more...

Gerrard and Carragher have been arguably two of Liverpool Football Club's greatest ever players, certainly two of its greatest servants. But both are now in the autumn years of their career. Gerrard is the younger of the two at thirty-two, and would seem to have plenty of juice in the tank as of yet. He is still an important part of the England team, and was the only Englishman named in UEFA's official 'team of the tournament' for Euro 2012. It seems far too early to discard Gerrard given his unquestioned talent, and it seems quite likely that he could prolong... Read more...

Is Reina still World Class?

One member of the Liverpool side who has come in for little criticism or examination of his position until recently is goalkeeper Pepe Reina. The Spanish goalkeeper has been a stalwart between the Reds' posts, and it has been frequently asserted that he is the best current goalkeeper in the Premier League. However a couple of early season errors against Arsenal and Hearts have led to calls from some quarters for Brendan Rodgers to wield the axe, and at least take Reina out of the firing line for a while. Suggestions that Reina should be dropped seem to something of an over-reaction.... Read more...
